This phrase “Day of the Lord” and very-similar phrases are sprinkled throughout the Bible. Whereas, originally, I thought there may be different days of the Lord depending upon era, context, or possibly even one’s personal interpretation — I now believe that there is only ONE Day of the Lord we need to consider. There’s a good chance that every instance of this “Day” within the Bible — foreshadows this one imminent Day!
Verses that underpin this Day of the Lord include: Isaiah 2:11/12, Isaiah 11:11, Isaiah 47:9, Isaiah 61:2, Joel 1:15, Amos 5:18, Obadiah 1:15, Zechariah 14:1, 1st Corinthians 5:5, and 2nd Peter 3:10.
Quite-typically, the scripture the Lord leads me to concerning this special day is the whole book of Joel. Fortunately, Joel’s book is an easy read as it contains only three chapters.
Biblically, I find that the word “day” is not always intended to be a 24-hour period.
In Genesis chapter-one during the Creation period, it states that each Earth-day began with the evening (darkness) and the morning (light) followed. Further, there’s a later summary in Genesis chapter-two that states this: “These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens” (Genesis 2:4, KJV).
So, within the King James version of the Bible we find that the whole sequence of events that took place in Genesis chapter-one is referred to as a single "day".
If we put these thoughts together, I believe the deeper meaning of the word “day” describes a transitional period from darkness to light. So, this word can have different meanings depending upon context; its meaning is not restricted to describing a 24-hour period. Particularly where it concerns the Lord, as in “Day of the Lord”.
I believe that the order-of-events for this Day of the Lord will be quite similar to the days-of-old when Jesus died on the cross. If you recall, after Jesus was crucified many of his loyal followers thought all was lost. It was not until Jesus rose from the grave three-days later and people began to believe... that they rejoiced. In this respect, I believe that this forthcoming Day of the Lord will be quite similar.
I am expecting a three-day window where we will all experience a transition from darkness to Light.
Most believers understand that Jesus returns after the gospel has been preached to all nations!
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. (Matthew 24:14, NIV)
And the gospel must first be preached to all nations. (Mark 13:10, NIV)
Since it is the New Testament that focuses on Jesus, perhaps we should discuss the New Testament for a moment.
Adequate copies of the New Testament were not available for purchase until the printing-press became a commercial success. The Gutenberg printing-press was invented circa 1450; it combined reusable metal movable type, oil-based ink, and a screw press. This is the package that people usually refer to by “the invention of the printing press.”
Large-scale printing of the New Testament began in 1522 with Luther’s German September Testament (about 3,000 copies in the first run), and in 1526 with Tyndale’s English New Testament at Worms (about 3,000 copies).
Important for supporting this Day-of-the-Lord narrative, is the fact that it’s been approximately 500 years since these early copies of the New Testament were printed. Inventions are often important because they make it possible for certain prophecies to be fulfilled. (For reference, a history of the New Testament resides near the end of the page)
In addition to the Lord leading me to the Book of Joel for this special "day", I am regularly reminded of the following verse from the book of Daniel.
“I beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.” (Daniel 7:11, King James Version)
From a 30,000 foot view — Daniel chapter-seven describes four beasts that “rise up from the sea” and later become “kings” of the earth (Dan. 7:3,17). The fourth (and final) beast that arrives on the scene is the world-wide government. The "four" here, within the "fourth beast" — represents government and authority.
“He gave me this explanation: ‘The fourth beast is a fourth kingdom that will appear on earth. It will be different from all the other kingdoms and will devour the whole earth, trampling it down and crushing it. (Dan. 7:23)
This idea of linking governmental authority to the number-four goes back as far as Genesis 1:18. In that passage, it basically states that on the fourth day the sun and moon were set in place “to govern” the day, night, seasons, and years.
I understand from the Lord that, whereas we regard 9/11 as a highly significant date, He regards 7/11 as even more significant. For a number of reasons, not the least of which is the verse of Daniel 7:11 — I believe that the Day of the Lord could fall on a 7/11 date.
The number 7 represents God of course, but in a prophetic number combination — it emphasizes the fact that this is part of God's grandiose plan; similar to the 7-days of creation. So, where looking back at a 7/11 occurrence may indicate that it was always part of God's timeline (from the very beginning) — the familiar 9/11 occurrence was not.
Importantly, "number 11" within prophetic numerology can represent "number 2"; similar to how the Roman numeral "ⅠⅠ" which looks like an eleven — stands for number-two.
Prophetically, number-two is describing two different aspects of God, just like two sides of a coin. Here, God is not only our all-loving creator, but he is also our judge! I believe that this is what number "11" signifies in the 7/11 combination. From this stance, the year 2022 was quite a milestone.
Although no one knows the exact day of Jesus’ return — that doesn’t prevent us from throwing darts at the dart-board in a vain-attempt to land upon the exact day. All I know for sure is this: the Day of the Lord is quite imminent.
Since this 7/11 month-day combination on the Gregorian calendar is over (July 11th) and most of the Bible is centered around Hebrew customs — let's now turn to the Hebrew calendar.
In the Hebrew calendar, the month of Tishrei represents the first month for counting out years. The word Tishrei comes from the ancient Akkadian word meaning "beginning". In the Gregorian year of 2026, the Hebrew calendar changes from 5786 to 5787 on the 1st of Tishrei.
Notably, each day on the Hebrew calendar begins at sundown. So, whereas every day flips over at midnight on the Gregorian calendar, it flips over at sundown on the Hebrew calendar. Consequently, whenever we try to align dates between Hebrew and Gregorian calendars, it heavily relies upon context.
Rosh Hashanah the Jewish New Year for 5787 begins at sundown on Friday, Sept. 11th, 2026. The civil daytime date of Tishrei 1, 5787, is Saturday, Sept. 12th. So the Jewish New Year in 2026 happens to start on a 9/11 date.
Important for our narrative at hand, is the fact that Tishrei is also the seventh month of the Hebrew ecclesiastical year. This establishes a 7/11 date within the month of September 2026. So, for this 7/11 day: Tishrei-11 5787, begins at sunset on September 21st (Monday) and ends at sunset on September 22nd (Tuesday).
Let me emphasize the fact, that I can’t say for sure if this Day of the Lord aligns with these dates, or even the month of September! The important thing is to be ready! I feel much-more confident about recognizing that this Day of the Lord will be a three-day event, rather than any of the dates I've listed.
Months ago, I was figuratively going down a rabbit-hole concerning the phrase “time, times and half a time” from the verse of Daniel 12:7. While I was going through this exercise, God impressed upon me that this phrase is all about Jesus. Importantly, this 12:7 verse was written a good-number of years before baby Jesus was ever born.
The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever, saying, “It will be for a time, times and half a time. When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed.” (Daniel 12:7, NIV)
At the end of each of these “times” in the prior verse, Jesus arrives at the perfect moment to right the ship. At the tail-end of these three different “times” a shoring-up needs to take place or squaring if you will — in order to keep earthly governments in check, upright and just. Basically, this is the urgency for Jesus’ return. Particularly, as it concerns Israel and Jewish diaspora.
NIV, Joel 2: (26) You will have plenty to eat, until you are full, and you will praise the name of the Lord your God, who has worked wonders for you; never again will my people be shamed. (27) Then you will know that I am in Israel, that I am the Lord your God, and that there is no other; never again will my people be shamed.
Within the earlier verse of Daniel 12:7, “The man clothed in linen” is a prophetic image of Jesus. There, the river of water that Jesus hovers over symbolizes the tremendous amount of water needed to flow under the bridge before the final “half a time”. This also represents the fact that Jesus is here to assist us as we cross over the river from one era to the other.
Crucially, the Day of the Lord serves as a marker within the phrase "time, times and half a time" of verse 12:7.
From my opinion, I believe that this Day of the Lord occurs after the “times” and just before the “half a time” inside this phrase. If we fast-forward now to the very end of the “half a time” — — — this should be when the power of the holy people is “finally broken” (Dan.12:7). From my opinion, this will also be about the time of the rapture.
As I read the whole of Daniel chapter-twelve — its timeline appears to intentionally end with the rapture that's described in verses one thru three. Importantly, there’s still a significant remnant left of the Church (here on Earth), so the rapture is not yet close at hand.
This Day of the Lord is a pivotal moment for all of mankind. If you study the book of Joel you can see for yourself, that there are both good and bad parts to this particular “day”. Comforting is the fact, that if one takes their cues from the Lord, there’s certainly no need to worry — as we are enthusiastically headed for better times. However, for those who do not personally know the Lord — it could be a different story.
NIV, Joel 3: (14) Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision. (15) The sun and moon will be darkened, and the stars no longer shine. (16) The Lord will roar from Zion and thunder from Jerusalem; the earth and the heavens will tremble. But the Lord will be a refuge for his people, a stronghold for the people of Israel.
We see from these verses, that during this fearful Day of the Lord we merely need to stay put in order to be safe, it will likely be over before we know it. (three days time?)
“Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until his wrath has passed by.” (Isaiah 26:20, NIV)
The Roman Empire is usually dated from 27 BC to 476 AD in the West and reached its greatest extent in about 117 AD. Historians still debate the causes of the Western Empire’s collapse. On Christmas Day 800, Pope Leo III crowned the Frankish king Charlemagne “Emperor of the Romans,” reviving an imperial title in the West under a Germanic Christian king. That was not a restoration of ancient Rome however.
The Holy Roman Empire that followed (usually dated from Otto I in 962) was centered on Germany and northern Italy. It was dissolved in 1806.
The Eastern Roman Empire (the Byzantine Empire) continued from its capital, Constantinople, until its fall in 1453. Throughout this period, it called itself Roman.
The one thing that the Roman Empire and the Fourth-Beast of Daniel have in common, is their predominant use of iron! Particularly, when it comes to weaponry.
The Roman army had a tremendous work-ethic and took engineering seriously. Building on earlier Greek inventions, they expanded their territory by constructing roads, bridges, forts, and aqueducts. In weaponry, they relied heavily upon iron and steel. Although Roman territory was rich in iron deposits, they also imported high-quality steel and weapons from neighboring regions. Their iron and steel equipment included the following:
It is estimated that the amount of iron required to equip each Roman legion was around 38 tons.
The verse below, is perhaps the most appropriate verse, when comparing the fourth-beast of Daniel to the Roman Empire.
NIV, Daniel 7: (7) After that, in my vision at night I looked, and there before me was a fourth beast — terrifying and frightening and very powerful. It had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from all the former beasts, and it had ten horns.
In addition to the preceding, Daniel chapter-two discusses the fact that the fourth-beast (or kingdom) is also highly associated with iron.
NIV, Daniel 2: (40) Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron — for iron breaks and smashes everything — and as iron breaks things to pieces, so it will crush and break all the others.
Progressing now to our modern-day, here is the spoiler alert for the fourth-beast of Daniel chapter-seven: Locomotives, railroad tracks, rail-cars and metal bridges that support these tracks — all contain a tremendous amount of iron.
Due to the proliferation of standard-gauge rail, commonly, trains travel virtually unimpeded and non-stop from one country to another. The first railroads having steam-locomotives, were essentially an early form of networking before the electrical and electronic industries took hold.
The telegraph, telephone, and finally the internet — all sprung forth due to railroads. In fact, the internet that uses two-way communications over single-cables, mimics how multiple locomotives can share the same track, yet travel in two different directions. The logistics within these two technologies (switching) is quite similar in this respect.
From a biblical point-of-view, railroads are like vines that keep on growing and spreading across the earth. The clash between various railroads (e.g.; north versus south or east versus west) is often-times the spark that triggers war.
As Hitler came to power, locomotives that rolled upon standard-gauge rail were pivotal for his success. Importantly, the Soviet Union didn't use standard-gauge rail so the Hitler's army couldn't easily cross into the Soviet Union by rail. (railroads in WWII are expanded upon at the bottom of the page)
A good portion of the following articles were drafted with assistance from Grok (xAI). The author has reviewed, revised, and takes responsibility for the final text.
Until the advent of the printing press, copies of the New Testament were not available in large numbers at a price that most people could afford to pay.
Previously, every copy was handwritten and costly; ordinary people heard Scripture in church rather than owned it. Gutenberg’s 1450s Latin Bible was still a luxury. The turning point was Erasmus’s Greek New Testament, printed at Basel in 1516. Revised later by Stephanus and Beza, that text became the printed Greek tradition behind almost every Reformation New Testament.
Luther issued a German New Testament from Erasmus’s Greek in 1522. In English, William Tyndale’s 1526 New Testament — printed at Worms (an upper Rhine German city) and smuggled into England — was the first time people could buy a printed English copy. Tyndale translated from Greek, not Latin. His book was banned, and he was executed in 1536, but most of his wording survived in later English Bibles.
Complete English Bibles followed: Coverdale (1535), the Matthew Bible (1537), and the Great Bible (1539), placed in parish churches. The Geneva Bible (1560) became the household Protestant Bible. The Bishops' Bible (1568) was the official pulpit text. Catholics published the Rheims New Testament in 1582.
King James Bible: In 1604, at the Hampton Court Conference, James I (King James) approved a new English Bible. Puritan complaints about the Geneva Bible’s notes, and dissatisfaction with the official Bishops’ Bible, gave him a chance to commission one translation for both church and nation. The rules were strict.
The Bishops’ Bible was the starting text: keep its wording where it was sound. Consult earlier English versions — especially Tyndale, Coverdale, the Great Bible, and Geneva — when they were clearer or closer to the originals. For the Old Testament, use the Hebrew Masoretic Text (the printed rabbinic Bibles). For the New Testament, use the printed Greek of Theodore Beza, above all his 1598 edition, which stood in the line that began with Erasmus in 1516 and passed through Stephanus. The Latin Vulgate and other versions could be checked, but they were not the base. About 47 scholars, divided into six companies at Westminster, Oxford, and Cambridge, drafted the work, then revised one another’s books.
The New Testament companies thus produced an English text that still sounds like Tyndale, while following Beza’s Greek in most readings. The finished Bible was printed in London in 1611 by Robert Barker as the Authorized Version. It included the Old Testament, New Testament, and Apocrypha. It was meant to replace both the Bishops’ Bible in the pulpit and the Geneva Bible in the home — the first English Bible designed as the national standard.
Railroads were essential to Hitler’s military and genocidal machinery because they gave the Nazi state unmatched speed and scale of movement across a continent. The Deutsche Reichsbahn (German National Railway) let Germany concentrate divisions, tanks, and supplies for the Blitzkrieg campaigns of 1939–41, turning rapid territorial conquest into a logistical reality rather than a slogan.
The same network later moved millions of people — soldiers to the fronts, raw materials and forced labor to factories, and Jews and other victims to ghettos and killing centers — with a regularity and volume that road or air transport could never have matched. Control of the rails therefore multiplied both the Wehrmacht’s (unified armed forces of Nazi Germany) striking power and the regime’s capacity to carry out mass deportation and extermination. Without that existing, centralized system, neither the early string of victories nor the Holocaust at the scale it occurred would have been feasible.
